From athletes to the elderly – extending our physiotherapy services with a seventh practice.

From supporting professional athletes with sports injuries to helping restore patient movement after surgery, physiotherapy is a vital service for patients across the UK.

Through a careful process of personalised injury assessment, physiotherapists can improve mobility for the most active and sedentary patients. This support provides mental and physical benefits, from easing pain to restoring confidence and a sense of freedom.

According to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the profession “takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle.”

At the Atlas Group, we’re committed to helping our practices in this patient-centred approach with a focus on high-quality service delivery across the UK. That’s why we’re delighted to welcome our seventh practice, Southbourne Physio, into the group to continue supporting patients at a local level.

Investing in physiotherapy

Southbourne Physio has seven physiotherapists who provide support to the local community, from young people to the elderly. Clients range from elite athletes to house-bound patients, and the team deals with everything from injury prevention to stroke rehabilitation.

Practice Manager Claire Bissett said: “As I get older, I wanted to put something in place for the practice that gave everyone the opportunity to continue working, but also gave me an option to exit easily. I wanted to know that, when I’ve had enough, I can confidently walk away from the business. So I’m delighted that Atlas will retain the integrity of the existing practice and continue to support the staff.

As a physiotherapist for the British gymnastics team, Claire has extensive experience working with athletes who are training and competing.

She said: “I worked with British gymnastics for eight years and had the great pleasure of supporting athletes who were competing at the highest levels. One of the athletes in my supervision went to the London Olympics and two went to Rio. I also worked with gymnasts in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 World Championships”.

Atlas Health Group works with practices that embody the highest standards so we’re excited to extend the reach of our business with this new acquisition.”
