About James
James Avery, who has worked in the NHS, private practice, elite sport and independent schools since the late 1990s – as well as running his own clinics – has joined our team here at Atlas Health Group.
He is a respected physiotherapist with decades of experience, treating Olympians and amateur athletes, managing clinical teams and providing expertise for national television and leading magazines.
Now he is embarking on his exciting new role, as Commercial Director of our leading national physiotherapy and osteopathic group.
Shaping the future
As Commercial Director, James will use his vast experience to help integrate new practices, develop staff recruitment strategies and ensure the individual practices benefit from all the group has to offer – from support networks, career opportunities, and training.
James, who has run a highly-regarded practice based in south-west Surrey for 14 years, said he was delighted to be taking on the new role, which will help to shape the future of Atlas Health Group.
“Great practices are created by the people within them, and I can’t wait to work with the teams in the group, who I know are motivated, enthusiastic and inquisitive professionals who enjoy and are inspired by what they do,” he said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to support them in feeling valued and nurtured to achieve their full
potential – which in turn will ensure we’re providing high-quality healthcare and service excellence for our patients.”
Wealth of experience
As a respected clinician with a special interest in adolescent health and sports injury rehabilitation, James has worked with international brands, professional teams, world-class athletes and high profile sporting events, across a diverse range of sports including football, tennis, squash and basketball.
James’ clinical highlights include providing professional advice for Men’s Health and Zest Magazines and interviews on City hospital and Sky Sports. He has worked for Arsenal FC Academy and treated Olympic Athletes prior to the 2012 Games, as well as working in professional tennis for 20 years and helping to develop sports injury services at a leading independent school.
He has also lectured to independent schools and school organisations about adolescent health, injury management, service development and policy.
Fantastic career opportunities
Chief Executive John Corney, an entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in nurturing and growing businesses, said: “We’re delighted to have James on board, he offers experience and expertise which I know will help to shape our vision and work over the coming months and years.
“This is exciting time for Atlas Health Group and this latest appointment really demonstrates the fantastic career opportunities that we can offer as we reimagine the way that practices work, to provide a premium service to patients by an enthusiastic and highly motivated team. Welcome James!”
Established in January 2021, Atlas Health Group has six practices throughout the country, many of which joined the group so they could access more support and extend the reach of their businesses while protecting everything they have already built.
